14th Annual Reiman Garden Quilt Show
Hosted By Iowa Quilters Guild
and Reiman Gardens
August 23, 24 & 25 2024
Friday & Saturday – 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday – 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Thank you for your interest in the Annual Garden Quilt Show at Reiman Gardens. Our goal is to encourage the art of quilting, display a unique collection of “garden-themed” quilts created by talented Midwesterners, and provide instruction, demonstrations and lectures for both novice and experienced quilters. We hope that everyone who attends will be inspired by the quilts as well as the living beauty through the Gardens, in the Conservatory, and within the Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing.
This year we celebrate Iowa’s Living Landscapes at the 2024 Reiman Gardens Quilt Show. The registration form with description of categories is linked below.
We’ll enjoy a lecture by Sue Kluber – collage/paint on fabric artist after the annual meeting.
To change things up this year, we’ll be having a pin cushion challenge rather than a block challenge. Make a fun pin cushion to enter in the challenge and consider making a kit of supplies to make that cushion to sell in the booth.
As always we’ll have the booth and will take any quilting-related items you wish to donate to the guild.

Official Quilt Contest Categories for 2024
The case can be made that no other state symbolizes our 2024 annual theme of “Living Landscapes” like Iowa. With 85% of the land devoted to agriculture, one Iowa farm produces enough grain to feed 155 people worldwide. But Iowa’s landscape is much more than cornfields and meticulously kept farms. Windmills of old and new dot the countryside, creating natural, sustainable energy. Rolling hills, native prairie flowers, and the beauty of four seasons paint a picture of Iowa’s heritage. Wildlife, like deer, fox, and rabbits, call this landscape “home” and bring our state’s landscape to life.
Living Landscapes
Show us in a quilt that displays a theme of an Iowan living landscape. Maybe it’s an art quilt exhibiting a beautiful scene from Iowa, or a traditionally pieced quilt made of blocks with a name describing the Iowa landscape. Or maybe an applique quilt made with fabrics designed by an Iowa native or a pattern created by an Iowan. We challenge you to think outside the box and tell us your Iowa living landscape story through your quilted creations.
Gardens Alive!
There’s nothing like a stroll through Reiman Gardens to make you appreciate the beauty of the world around us. Quilts often reflect this beauty and have been the foundation of this annual quilt show since its inception. Quilts in this category must include a natural theme in the design either by including fabrics which display a natural theme in the pattern or by creating a natural theme in the quilt pattern. Traditional quilt blocks with names such as: Lily, Flower Basket, Nosegay, Maple Leaf, Bear Paw, Flying Geese, Hen & Chicks, etc. would also be included in this category. And there’s no better way for an appliqué quilter or art quilters to show off their amazing talents than with a lovely nature- themed quilt! How is this category different from the Living Landscapes category you may ask? Quilts in this category do not require a connection to Iowa.
Iowa Guild Challenge
This special category is open to Iowa Quilters Guild members only. Please visit www.iowaquiltersguild.com for information on becoming a member of the guild. This year we’re changing things up and challenging our members to submit a pin cushion of their choice. Pin cushions can be any size and in any form. Contact iaquiltersguild@gmail.com for more information.
Iowa’s Heros – Patriotic Themed Quilts
Whether they served during peacetime or at war, our service men and women deserve our thanks. Help us reach our goal of presenting a minimum of 10 quilts to these deserving veterans. If you have someone to give a quilt to that’s great, but if you would like to make a quilt for presentation and do not have a veteran in mind – we’ll happily find one for you. Quilts in this category will be presented throughout the quilt show weekend at Reiman Gardens. Quilters need not be members of IQG to donate and present a quilt at this ceremony and there is not charge for entering these quilts in the show. Quilts will not be judged, but will be eligible for the Guild’s Choice award given specifically to the best QOV displayed at the show. Due to limited hanging space, only quilts which will be presented at the quilt show will be accepted for display. Contact iaquiltersguild@gmail.com for registration form.
